Our company is very small. It is not even registered for VAT but, for tax reasons, it is a limited company. For a while I did our Companies House and Corporation Tax returns but changes in the rules caused me to fall behind. I looked for professional help and encountered hostility from people who sneered at my small business and complained about the state of my accounts, claiming that several weeks’ work was required. Then I met James. He grasped the problem immediately and in a day, for which he charged a fair professional fee, he brought the accounts up to date, sorted out the problems with the government and helped my partner and me to understand our business. James has been retained by Purple Warriors (a registered charity) as its ‘Independent Examiner’ for financial reports prepared for the Charity Commission. He is thoroughly professional (with a real eye for detail) but also extremely helpful in ensuring that the charity Trustees have total confidence in the way in which its financial affairs are being managed. For many years as Self Employed I managed my own accounts but a change in circumstance meant a switch to Limited. When I first met James at my house to discuss what he could offer me as my accountant I knew within a few minutes that I felt comfortable and confident with how he conducted himself. As well as being a nice guy he knew exactly what he was talking about and he was particularly forgiving when we discussed my previous accountant who hadn't necessarily worked in my best interests. This showed me that James was not out to tear others down to improve his own position, but showed me that he has integrity and that he is trustworthy.

Since our first meeting I have been in constant contact with him (a stark difference to what I was used to) and he has helped me do everything to get my limited company set up and running smoothly. He is always on the end of the phone to discuss small details and it is never too much trouble to help me when I need it. I’m never rushed off the phone or made to feel like I’ve asked a stupid question. I’m so glad I made the move to James at Aims, even though it was much easier for me to stay with my previous accountant and stick with what I was used to.

This may all sound a bit too good to be true but I think I have actually found a rare breed of accountant and a really good and honorable guy!
